The theory of magnetic-dipole absorptions in the far infra-red for FeCl 2 is presented. A Hamiltonian is found which satisfactorily explains experimental results: static susceptibilities, magnetization, and Mössbauer data. The magnetic-dipole absorptions are then calculated by using an innovation on molecular field theory. The absorptions include the AFMR, both the position (16.5 cm -1 ) and g -factor (3.8) of which are well explained. Particularly for the higher temperatures, numerous other transitions are predicted, but data are not yet available for comparison.
