One of the numerous asexuell fructifications of Botrytis cinerea Pers. are the microconidia (Myrioconium H. Sydow), which can be produced in the natural habitat as well as in artificial culture. Besides of the hitherto known possibilities of microconidiogenesis a new herewith first described mode of formation of this spore form was represented: an exogenous microconidial production on hyphal loops. Initiation of loops could be stimulated by various volatile substances, especially hexanal.
