Chlorinated isotactic polypropylene (CIP) has good ability to bond to isotactic polypropylene. The bonding strengths between the two polymers are affected by the preparation conditions of CIP, chlorine contents of CIP, isotacticity of raw polymer, and conditions of making joints. However, these factors are related to the crystallinity of CIP, and it is considered that the crystallinity of CIP is responsible for the bonding strengths between the two polymers. By using x‐ray diffraction and electron diffraction measurement the role of crystallinities of these polymers in bonding are discussed.
