Charge-density waves (CDW) in one-dimensional conductors are studied by treating the electron-phonon interaction in the adiabatic limit, while weak-coupling electron-electron interactions are solved by renormalization-group methods. An exponent δ defines a renormalization of the effective electronic energy and gap. For a half-filled band system with a backward scattering g₁>0 (g₁<0), a bond- (site-) centered CDW is enhanced. We also consider effects of disorder, such as in polyacetylene, and estimate δ by the phonon-gap relation.
