The techniques to arthroscopically treat glenohumeral instability continue to evolve. Early emphasis was on improving techniques to repair labral detachments. Suture anchors improved prior arthroscopic results with use of the familiar techniques of open surgical repair. Reduction of capsular laxity has further improved arthroscopic repairs. 1 Abrams J.S. Arthroscopic shoulder stabilization for recurrent subluxation and dislocation. J Shoulder Elbow Surg. 1993; 2: 25 Google Scholar Stabilization may include suture anchors to shift capsule as well as labrum, inferior capsular pouch split and transfer, thermally addressing capsular redundancy, capsular plication, and closure of the rotator capsular interval. These techniques can be incorporated into anterior stabilization, posterior stabilization, and the treatment of multidirectional instability.
