A successful treatment of a persisting endodontic infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa is described together with a review of its presence in saliva and root canal infections. The treatment included ethanol irrigation and prolonged calcium hydroxide therapy in addition to thorough mechanical preparation. The minimum pH value of calcium hydroxide for in vitro killing of the isolated strain was found to be above 10.
