Chemical Studies of the Western Pacific Ocean. III. Freezing Point, Osmotic Pressure, Boiling Point, and Vapour Pressure of Sea Water

Abstract (1) The freezing point of sea water from the Western Pacific Ocean has been measured and a new empirical formula for the relation between freezing point and chlorinity has been obtained, which seems to be more adequate than Knudsen-Hansen’s equation. (2) The osmotic pressure, the boiling point elevation and the depression of the vapour pressure of sea water have been calculated. The author wishes to express his hearty thanks to Prof. T.
