The spectrum of Ar IX has been observed in the 450-900 A wavelength range. A total of 36 lines has been measured. Thirty of them have been classified as transitions between the 2 s 2 2 p 5 3 s , 3 p and 3 d configurations and six other lines have been ascribed to the 2 s 2 p 6 3 l configurations. Energy levels of the 2 s 2 2 p 5 3 l configurations have been deduced. These identifications have been supported by an isoelectronic comparison. Three mean lives have been measured.
