Experimental study demonstrates visible-light-driven imino-sulfonylation of methylenecyclopropanes, providing an efficient pathway to beta-amino sulfones under mild conditions.
Herein, we present a visible light-driven difunctionalization strategy for the efficient synthesis of β-amino sulfone derivatives from methylenecyclopropanes and N-sulfonyl imines under mild conditions. The process involves an energy transfer (EnT)-mediated pathway, wherein homolytic N–S bond cleavage generates persistent imine radicals and transient sulfonyl radicals that serve as key intermediates for sequential radical addition to methylenecyclopropanes. This method features a broad substrate scope and high functional-group tolerance and delivers β-amino sulfone derivatives in good yields.
