Multidisciplinary review reveals the persistence of political immutability beliefs in institutional discourse, indicating that fatalism serves as an ideological device to preserve the status quo.
This paper critically analyzes the argumentative trope asserting that political and institutional turnover is a cosmetic illusion devoid of impact on the deep dynamics of power. By integrating a corpus of fifty multidisciplinary academic sources, ranging from cognitive psychology to media sociology, game theory, political science, and the epistemology of contingency, it is demonstrated that the belief in immutability is not an objective reading of reality, but rather a psychological defense mechanism and an ideological device functional to the preservation of the status quo.
