Solar still is a simple device for converting existing salt water into drinking water using solar energy. Current research shows that the stepped solar still in Gandhinagar, Gujarat climate, is compared with traditional solar still. During sunshine hours during December 2018 and February 2019, two same-size solar stills of 1 m2 were used for the experiment. From the three months of constant experiment, the production of step solar distillation was found to remain higher than that of a conventional solar still. The distillation output increased by 23.88% compared to the conventional one which was also found to be still higher. Stepped solar costs still found 7800 and drinking water costs 2.770 l/day and energy recovery 4.27 years.
