It is well known that a terminal illness afflicts the patient as well as his family members. In order to provide holistic care to the terminally ill person and his family it is imperative that the health care professionals have a thorough understanding of the concept of caregiving. The purpose of this article is two-fold: to gain an understanding of the caregiving experience of families with a terminally ill adult and to explore the implications for nursing.
