On the basis of earlier found Padé‐approximations for the free energy and the chemical potential of a fully ionized hydrogen system the transition from the atomic to the metallic state is discussed. Partial ionisation is studied by using the mass action law. The second critical point for hydrogen is found to be Tc = 16500 K and Pc = 22.5 GPa. An updated phase diagram of the transition region is presented.
