Dielectric losses of aluminum/organic monolayer/aluminum structures were studied between −170 and +50°C within the frequency range 100 Hz to 50 kHz. They are due largely to oxide layers on the electrode surfaces and partly to movements of dipoles linked to the organic molecules. At a measurement frequency of 1 kHz, absorption maxima appear at −100 and −30°C and are attributed to dipole movements in the amorphous and crystalline regions of the layers, respectively.
