Electron impact excitation from a1Δgstate of molecular oxygen

Energy-loss features observed in the electron impact excitation of discharged molecular oxygen are assigned to the transitions O 2 a 1 Delta g ( nu =0) to O 2 1 Pi u ( nu '=0, 1, ... 7). A Morse potential energy curve is determined for the 1 Pi u state using the relative intensities of these energy-loss features.
