A paleomagnetic study of 39 lavas collected from the islands of Niihau, Nihoa, and Necker yields paleosecular variation values in agreement with the low values found from more extensive studies on the main islands of the Hawaiian group. A mean VGP (virtual geomagnetic pole) on the opposite side of the geographic pole was obtained from the Niihau data, but the Nihoa mean VGP is very close to the rotation axis. Unusual equatorial VGP were found in the lava flows from Necker Island.
