High admission leukoglycemic index predicts ~60% higher odds of multivessel CAD in elderly AMI patients.
Why the study?
The study aimed to evaluate the predictive effect of the leuko-glycemic index on multivessel disease in elderly patients over 65 hospitalized with acute myocardial infarction.

Does the leuko-glycemic index predict multivessel disease in elderly patients over 65 hospitalized with acute myocardial infarction?
The leuko-glycemic index is a simple, inexpensive biomarker that independently predicts the presence of multivessel coronary artery disease in elderly patients presenting with acute myocardial infarction.

Mevlüt Demir (2023) conducted a cohort in Acute myocardial infarction (n=219). Leukoglycemic index (LGI) vs. Lower LGI / Single-vessel disease was evaluated on Multivessel coronary artery disease (≥50% stenosis in at least two coronary arteries) (OR 1.599, 95% CI 1.086-2.357, p=0.018). A high leukoglycemic index on admission independently predicted the presence of multivessel coronary artery disease in elderly patients with acute myocardial infarction (OR 1.599).
