Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) has been applied to the analysis of anorectic compounds from human urine. Urine samples from phendimetrazine and fenfluramine users, after the 1:1 dilution and addition of 400 ng/mL of Proadifen as an internal standard, have been directly sampled with SPME and analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Calibration curves have been built by spiking blank urine with amounts ranging from 60 to 900 ng/mL for fenfluramine and from 80 to 800 ng/mL for phendimetrazine. Correlation coefficients were 0.992 for phendimetrazine and 0.995 for fenfluramine curve. On 10 replicate samples, variation coefficients of 8% and 10% were observed for phendimetrazine and fenfluramine, respectively.
