The authors have measured photon emission cross sections between 15 and 500 nm in collisions of 25-800 keV Ne z+ (z=1,2,3,4) with He, Ne and Ar target gases. It is found that moderate exothermic processes with crossing radii between 3 and 10 au are relatively important. This means that for the highest charge used electron capture into excited states of the projectile and capture (or transfer) ionisation play a dominant role.
