Crystallization from melts has recently acquired increasing technical importance in organic substance purification. In the production of intermediates the method offers significant advantages over other separation processes. This paper investigates how the freezing temperature of binary mixtures is affected by dissolution of gases under pressure. The method used is based upon observation of temperature- and pressure-dependent crystal growth in molten substances.
