SrS is studied by powder X-ray diffraction in the pressure range up to 350 kbar. A new phase transition is observed near 180 kbar, where SrS transforms from the rocksalt (B1) to the CsCl-type (B2) structure. The relative volume decrease is 11.4%. The transition is discussed in relation to systematic trends for B1B2 structural changes in other alkaline earth chalcogenides.
