An active-recording x-ray crystal spectrometer has been built to recover spectral data from laser-fusion experiments. The spectrometer uses an x-ray-sensitive spatially resolving solid-state detector to monitor the spectra of line radiation of highly ionized silicon emitted by laser targets. A digital data system is described that expedites the recovery of data from the spectrometer.
