The missing low frequency B1 mode in a single crystal of CuInS2 has been experimentally detected for the first time. This mode is only Raman active; however, it was activated for infrared absorption process by introducing Fe impurity. The missing mode was investigated using Fourier transform spectroscopy. The experimentally observed value (110 cm−1) is in accordance with the theoretically predicted value.
