Colchicine-loaded nanoplatform TIMP/Col@HH improves cardiac function in mice by suppressing macrophage activation and fibrosis.
A novel colchicine-loaded nanoplatform (TIMP/Col@HH) shows promise in reducing myocardial fibrosis and improving cardiac function in preclinical models.
Hypothesis-generating in mouse myocardial fibrosis; leaves open clinical translation pending larger studies.
, TIMP/Col@HH suppressed pro-inflammatory macrophage activation, inhibited cardiac fibroblast activation and collagen deposition, and interrupted inflammation-driven fibrosis in a coculture model. In an isoproterenol-induced MF mouse model, TIMP/Col@HH exerted pronounced anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects and significantly improved cardiac function. Collectively, TIMP/Col@HH represents a promising nanotherapeutic strategy for myocardial fibrosis by integrating lesion targeting, enhanced matrix penetration, and colchicine-based intervention.

Zhang et al. (2026) studied Myocardial fibrosis. TIMP/Col@HH (colchicine-loaded nanoplatform) was evaluated on Cardiac function, anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects. TIMP/Col@HH, a colchicine-loaded nanoplatform, suppressed macrophage activation, inhibited fibrosis, and significantly improved cardiac function in a mouse model of myocardial fibrosis.
