Synthesis of a Bis(cyclopentadienyl)lanthanum Aryl Complex with a Pseudofacially Bound Bis(ortho)-Chelating Aryldiamine Ligand. X-ray Structure of (η5-C5H5)2La(C6H3{CH2NMe2}2-2,6)

Reaction of Cp 3 La·THF with Li(C 6 H 3 {CH 2 NMe 2 } 2 -2,6) in benzene gave the first crystallographically characterized lanthanum aryl complex (η 5 -C 5 H 5 ) 2 La(C 6 H 3 {CH 2 NMe 2 } 2 -2,6), in which the bis(ortho)-chelating aryldiamine ligand is bound in a pseudofacial “Cp-like” fashion.
