Research on tourism development has empirically overlooked the role of logistics as an enabling factor. While few studies have tested specific elements of logistics, this research supplements the literature by proposing a logistics‐augmented tourism demand framework and investigating the importance of logistics in tourism development, specifically for a tourism‐dependent island economy. Logistics has been included as a bundle and a composite index of tourism related logistics has been created using the principal component analysis. Employing rigorous dynamic time series analysis during the period 1990–2024, the results confirmed the significance of logistics in tourism development in the long and short run, albeit a relatively lower impact in the short run. Further analysis confirms the moderating and synergetic role of human capital in the logistics‐tourism nexus. Policy implications call for a consolidation and further investment in the tourism logistic sector from both the public and private sectors.
