Indicates sylvatic ASFV reservoir in Mozambique; leaves open transmission risks and control needs for domestic pigs.
Cross-Sectional (n=310)
This study provides the first evidence of a sylvatic cycle of African swine fever in Mozambique, confirming a permanent virus source for domestic pigs.
Quembo et al. (2014) conducted a cross-sectional in African swine fever (n=310). African swine fever virus exposure was evaluated on Sero-prevalence to ASFV. Sero-prevalence to African swine fever virus was 9.1% in domestic pigs and 75% in warthogs, providing the first evidence of a sylvatic cycle in Mozambique.
