Brief Communication: Susceptibility of an Inbred Strain of Guinea Pigs to the Induction of Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma by N-Methyl-N-nitrosourea2

SUMMARY-Adenocarcinoma of the pancreas developed by week 36 in 4 of 11 inbred strain-13 guinea pigs that survived weekly intragastric administration of 10 mg N-methyl-N-nitrosourea/kg body weight for>6 months. The short induction period suggests that this inbred strain of guinea pigs is valuable in developing a suitable biologic model for pancreatic adenocarcinoma.-J Natl Cancer Inst
