The nature of the SS bonds in different compounds. Part III. The crystal and molecular structures of S‐p‐tolyl p‐toluenethiosulfinate and S,S‐diphenyl dithiosulfite

The crystal structures of S‐p‐tolyl p‐toluenethiosulfinate (1) and S,S‐diphenyl dithiosulfite (2) have been determined by X‐ray diffraction. Observed (average) values for the bonds involving a sulfur atoms are for (1): S‐S = 2.108(2), S‐O = 1.457(5), S‐C = 1.776(5) Å, and for (2): S‐S = 2.132(2), S‐O = 1.476(4), S‐C = 1.775(4) Å.
