A smectic liquid‐crystalline stationary phase was used in high resolution gas chromatography for the analysis of the patterns of the chloro‐homologues of the polychlorodibenzodioxins and polychlorodibenzofurans. Unique selectivity for most of the 2,3,7,8‐class congeners was observed. Use of this phase as an alternative to cyanopropylsilicone phases in the isomer‐specific analysis of halogenated and mixed halogenated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans is discussed.
