IN UNDERTAKING a program of duck nutrition one of the first problems encountered involved the method of feeding. Until relatively recently the usual method practiced in feeding ducklings was to feed moist mashes exclusively beginning commonly with four feedings daily and later reducing this number to three or two. In order to save labor the feeding of pellets exclusively has been introduced and is on the increase, particularly on the larger farms. However, moist mashes are still fed extensively. In a study of pellets versus mash feeding for table duck production Tallent (1932) fed a ration made up of the same ingredients in the form of pellets and in the form of wet mash.
