IABP-supported coil embolization stabilizes hemodynamics in a patient with severe subarachnoid hemorrhage and Takotsubo cardiomyopathy.
Case Report (n=1)
Early aneurysm treatment and intracranial pressure management under IABP support can lead to favorable outcomes in severe subarachnoid hemorrhage complicated by Takotsubo cardiomyopathy.
Supports feasibility of IABP-assisted coil embolization in SAH with Takotsubo; hypothesis-generating and should not yet change practice.

Wada et al. (2023) conducted a case report in Takotsubo cardiomyopathy caused by aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (n=1). Coil embolization using intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) was evaluated on Clinical outcome. Coil embolization performed with intra-aortic balloon pump support stabilized hemodynamics and led to a good clinical outcome in a patient with severe subarachnoid hemorrhage and Takotsubo cardiomyopathy.
