Excludes frequent DHPR α1 defects in those regions as MH causes; leaves open other loci or mechanisms for sequencing studies.
O'Brien et al. (1995) conducted a case-control in Malignant hyperthermia. Defects in the skeletal muscle specific regions of the DHPR alpha 1 subunit vs. MH non-susceptible (MHN) patients was evaluated on Differences within the sequence encoding the II-III loop or the IS3/IS3-IS4 segment of the DHPR alpha 1 subunit. Comparison of cDNA sequences between malignant hyperthermia susceptible and non-susceptible patients revealed no differences in the II-III loop or IS3/IS3-IS4 segment of the DHPR alpha 1 subunit.
