The thermal expansion of various Cr 1- c Mn c alloys (0.01≦ c ≦0.20) has been measured from 77 K up to temperatures above T N . The alloys show a remarkable volume expansion below T N due to magnetic ordering. For the Mn-rich alloys the spontaneous volume magnetostriction becomes comparable to that of Invar alloys.
