In Pavlov and Heidenhain pouch dogs with excluded antrum and duodenum the effects of HCL instillations into those areas upon histamine‐stimulated gastric secretion were studied. It was found that acidification of the duodenum produced slight and irregular inhibition in some dogs, but no inhibition in others. These findings led the author to suggest that histamine‐stimulated gastric secretion is resistant to duodenal inhibition. Acidification of the antrum had no inhibitory influence on the secretion. No difference in susceptibility to antro‐duodenal inhibition was found between secretions from Pavlov and Heidenhain pouches.
