In this group there was 1 mechanical failure of the cylinder (1 per cent) compared to 5 mechanical failures of the cylinders (8 per cent) in a group of 63 men who did not receive the rear-tip extenders in the last 18 months. The group that received rear-tip extenders had a total mechanical complication rate of 4 per cent compared to 13 per cent in the group that did not receive the rear-tip extenders. © 1982 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited byDEUK CHOI Y, JIN CHOI Y, HWAN KIM J and KI CHOI H (2018) MECHANICAL RELIABILITY OF THE AMS 700CXM INFLATABLE PENILE PROSTHESIS FOR THE TREATMENT OF MALE ERECTILE DYSFUNCTIONJournal of Urology, VOL. 165, NO. 3, (822-824), Online publication date: 1-Mar-2001.Kabalin J and Kessler R (2018) Five-Year Followup of the Scott Inflatable Penile Prosthesis and Comparison with Semirigid Penile ProsthesisJournal of Urology, VOL. 140, NO. 6, (1428-1430), Online publication date: 1-Dec-1988.Gregory J and Purcell M (2018) Scott's Inflatable Penile Prosthesis: Evaluation of Mechanical Survival in the Series 700 ModelJournal of Urology, VOL. 137, NO. 4, (676-677), Online publication date: 1-Apr-1987.Engel R, Smolev J and Hackler R (2018) Experience With the Mentor Inflatable Penile ProsthesisJournal of Urology, VOL. 135, NO. 6, (1181-1182), Online publication date: 1-Jun-1986.Furlow W (2018) The Inflatable Penile Prosthesis: The Case for the Medical Device Data BaseJournal of Urology, VOL. 133, NO. 1, (72-72), Online publication date: 1-Jan-1985.Gregory J, Purcell M and Standeven J (2018) The Inflatable Penile Prosthesis: Failure of the Rear Tip Extender in Reducing the Incidence of Cylinder LeakageJournal of Urology, VOL. 131, NO. 4, (668-669), Online publication date: 1-Apr-1984.Furlow W (2018) Editorial CommentJournal of Urology, VOL. 131, NO. 4, (669-669), Online publication date: 1-Apr-1984.
