A modified method for the investigation of the molecular structure of polyethylene grafted with methacrylic acid (PE‐g‐MA) using the statistical analysis of the grafting process has been presented. On this basis a model for the structure of PE‐g‐MA has been proposed, in which one PMA chain is attached to one PE chain. It has been found that benzoyl peroxide does not influence the molecular weight distribution of the parent polyethylene under modification conditions used.
