Tension stressed wire consisting of the high magnetostriction alloy 49Co-2V-Fe presents a large nucleation field if a controlled strand annealing is applied. The Sixtus-Tonks method [1, 2] was used to observe the axial domain wall velocity which shows values up to v = 4.5 km/s and a non-linear dependence on the driving field. A constant mobility of 270 (m/s)/(A/cm) appears in the low velocity rangev ≤ 200m/s. Mobility increases for v > 800 m/s and now depends on tensile stress. Peak voltages up to 20 mV/turn are obtained at propagation rates close to the velocity of sound.
