An explanation of compensation effects observed in PVC plasticized by DOP is suggested. It is shown that the conductivity of the polymers can be explained in terms of two conductivity mechanisms acting in series. The first of these involves electronic conduction in the surface layers of regions of syndiotactic stereoregularity where the electrons originate from neutral vacancies, while the second involves charge transfer between these regions.
