The blood picture is that of an anemia, granulocytopenia, and thrombocytopenia. In some of these cases the etiology is known, e.g., arsenic or benzol poisoning, in others the etiological factor cannot be found. In the literature these cases are referred to as "aplastic anemia," "myelophthisic anemia," "aleukia hemorrhagica," etc., but none of these terms properly expresses the character of the condition.
