Are ICD shock and preimplantation Type D personality associated with poorer health status in patients with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator?
p-value: p=<.05
Preimplantation Type D personality and ICD shock during follow-up are equally important independent predictors of poor health status 12 months after ICD implantation.
Pedersen et al. (2012) conducted a cohort in Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) patients (n=383). ICD shock and Type D personality vs. No shock and non-Type D personality was evaluated on Health status (SF-36 subscales and Mental Component Summary) (p=<.05). ICD shock and preimplantation Type D personality were independently associated with poorer health status at 12 months, scoring 2.60-13.30 and 2.12-8.02 points lower on SF-36 subscales, respectively.
