Perioperative TEE requires interdisciplinary collaboration for optimal cardiac surgical care.
Case Report
Perioperative transesophageal echocardiography requires correct execution and interdisciplinary collaboration for optimal care in cardiac surgery.
May support TEE use in cardiac surgery cases; leaves open prospective validation of collaboration protocols.
Perioperative transesophageal echocardiography is widely used to monitor cardiac surgical patients or anesthetized patients with hemodynamic instability. This case series illustrates the importance of transesophageal echocardiography for optimal care of cardiac surgical patients. It also emphasizes the significance of correct and complete performance of the echocardiographic examination and of interdisciplinary collaboration between anesthesiologists, cardiac surgeons, and cardiologists.

Filipovic et al. (2002) conducted a case report in Cardiac surgical patients or anesthetized patients with hemodynamic instability. Perioperative transesophageal echocardiography was evaluated. Perioperative transesophageal echocardiography is important for optimal care of cardiac surgical patients and requires interdisciplinary collaboration.
