The seventh reported case of achlorhydric juvenile pernicious anemia occurred in a 19-year-old man, who in addition, had a selective IgA deficiency. Family studies reveal pernicious anemia in three consecutive generations, but no other cases of IgA deficiency. (JAMA228:334-336, 1974)
