Norepinephrine stimulates prostanoid synthesis independently of beta-adrenoceptors, likely via the phosphoinositide pathway in rats.
The increased renal synthesis of Thromboxane A2 in Lyon hypertensive rats is likely mediated by the phosphoinositide pathway rather than specific alpha- or beta-adrenoceptor stimulation.

Does not support changes to beta-blocker use in hypertension; hypothesis-generating for phosphoinositide pathway in animal TxA2 regulation.
Liu et al. (1992) studied Hypertension. Norepinephrine following beta-adrenoceptor blockade by sotalol vs. BHT 933 and angiotensin II was evaluated on Renal function and prostanoid synthesis. Norepinephrine-induced stimulation of prostanoid synthesis does not involve beta-adrenoceptors, and the increased renal synthesis of TxA2 in LH rats likely involves the phosphoinositide pathway.
