Bioassay experiments with the house fly, Musca domestica L., demonstrated that the polychlorinated biphenyl preparation Arochlor 1254 ® is a powerful syngergist for the carbamate insecticide carbaryl. The degree of synergism was approximately equal to that obtained with the standard insecticide synergist piperonyl butoxide. Other experiments demonstrated that Arochlor 1254 ® is an inducer of aldrin and heptachlor epoxidases in the house fly.
