Retroperitoneal myxoid liposarcoma dedifferentiates into high-grade disease, leading to death after ~14 years.
Case Report (n=1)
Repeated resections of retroperitoneal liposarcoma can lead to dedifferentiation into a highly malignant form, necessitating strict follow-up.
May warrant close surveillance after repeated resections for retroperitoneal liposarcoma; leaves open prospective validation of risk and strategies.

Hai et al. (2012) conducted a case report in Retroperitoneal liposarcoma (n=1). Surgical resection was evaluated. A retroperitoneal liposarcoma initially diagnosed as myxoid type dedifferentiated into a high-grade dedifferentiated type over the course of 6 surgical resections, leading to death after 13.75 years.
