In the present study, river water is fortified with 62 pesticides of different polarities. The water samples undergo solid-phase extraction using C18 as a bulk sorbent. Recovery of each pesticide from river water by this method is compared with a modified method in which the water is acidified and saturated with salt prior to extraction. Determination is performed by gas chromatography with electron-capture and nitrogen-phosphorus detectors. Mean recoveries of the methods were 72 and 81%, respectively.
