Does radiotherapy cure unresectable neck epitheloid hemangioendothelioma?
Radiotherapy may be an effective curative modality for invasive, unresectable epitheloid hemangioendothelioma of the neck.
May support radiotherapy for unresectable neck EHE; leaves open need for prospective validation.
Epitheloid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is a rare vascular neoplasm which has a variable malignant potential. EHE cases have been reported in the head and neck region. This is the report of an unresectable neck EHE cured totally by radiotherapy. As EHE has a malignant potential, wide local excision is the accepted treatment of choice. If total resection is not possible, additional curative therapy modalities are needed. Invasive forms of EHE which can not be resected totally can be treated by radiotherapy. doi:10.4021/jmc216w

Aksoy et al. (2011) conducted a case report in Unresectable Epitheloid Hemangioendothelioma of the Neck Region (n=1). Radiotherapy was evaluated on Cure. Radiotherapy successfully cured an unresectable epithelioid hemangioendothelioma of the neck region, suggesting it as a viable treatment when total resection is not possible.
