Particle deposition indoors has received increasing attention recently as a result of increasing concern about the effects of particle exposure on human health. In this paper, both experimental and modeling efforts addressing indoor particle deposition were reviewed. With regard to experimental work, studies carried out in experimental chambers and real houses (non-room-sized and room-sized enclosures) were reported.Experimental results from the literature were very scarce and scattered. Most of the studies reviewed only measured the particle rate loss coefficient and direct deposition studies were even fewer.Deposition onto rough surfaces, which is believed to be more realistic in practical environments, was also reviewed. With regard to modeling, emphasis was put on the particle eddy diffusivity term of Eulerian approach. Both conventional and unconventional methods modeling the particle eddy diffusivity were reviewed and their assumptions and limitations were discussed. The appropriateness of the methods for practical indoor measurement was also addressed.
