Indicates poor survival in high-grade venous leiomyosarcoma; leaves open optimal treatment strategies pending larger studies.
Case Report (n=6)
Leiomyosarcomas of large extremity veins are high-grade malignancies with poor prognosis, where multimodality imaging aids in diagnosis and surgical planning.
Berlin et al. (1984) conducted a case report in Leiomyosarcoma of large veins in the extremities (n=6). Clinical, roentgenologic, and morphologic evaluation was evaluated. In six cases of high-grade leiomyosarcoma of large extremity veins, five patients died of metastatic disease and one is alive with lung metastases.
